In October 2011 Christies in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary Australian Art with Works by 20th Century African Artists, which included the work Old stockman by Russell Drysdale. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,339.91), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Russell Drysdale achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian rocky Mccormack in August 2008 with an auction result of AUD 1,890,000.00 (€ 1,103,283.80).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Australian Art with Works by 20th Century African Artists durch, in der auch die Arbeit Old stockman von Russell Drysdale zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.339,91) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Russell Drysdale erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian rocky Mccormack im August 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 1.890.000,00 (€ 1.103.283,80).
