Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Lady Charlotte Augusta Chetwynd, née Hill (1815-1861) by George Richmond was auctioned at Bonhams in London in March last year. The price achieved of GBP 1,083.75 (€ 1,284.91) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Richmond achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sir Moses Montefiore (1784-1885), three-quarter-length, seated at a desk, in a black suit and cap in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 96,000.00 (€ 141,726.13).
