In July 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction British and European Art, which included the work Portrait Of Elizabeth Winthrop by George Richmond. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,805.00 (€ 3,289.44), 40% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Richmond achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sir Moses Montefiore (1784-1885), three-quarter-length, seated at a desk, in a black suit and cap in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 96,000.00 (€ 141,726.13).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2021 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion British and European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of Elizabeth Winthrop von George Richmond zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.805,00 (€ 3.289,44) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Richmond erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Sir Moses Montefiore (1784-1885), three-quarter-length, seated at a desk, in a black suit and cap im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 96.000,00 (€ 141.726,13).
