In October 2003 Christies in London held the auction British Works on Paper, which included the work The Dogana, Venice by George Richardson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 705.00 (€ 1,029.72), 41% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Richardson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The New Vitruvius Britannicus: Six Plates, which sold at auction in March 2004 for USD 3,107.00 (€ 2,527.66).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Dogana, Venice von George Richardson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 705,00 (€ 1.029,72) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von George Richardson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The New Vitruvius Britannicus: Six Plates beobachtet, die im März 2004 für USD 3.107,00 (€ 2.527,66) versteigert wurde.
