In March 2011 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors Including Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours From The Collection of The Late John Appleby, which included the work Viwe of the south facade of Christ Church College, Oxford from Christ Church Meadows by George Pyne. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,272.93), 61% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by George Pyne have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Eton from the North Terrace of Windsor Castle in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,283.63).

Im März 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors Including Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours From The Collection of The Late John Appleby durch, in der auch die Arbeit Viwe of the south facade of Christ Church College, Oxford from Christ Church Meadows von George Pyne zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.272,93) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Pyne auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Eton from the North Terrace of Windsor Castle im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.625,00 (€ 6.283,63).
