Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Peckwater Quad, Christ Church, Oxford by George Pyne was sold in the A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation auction at Sothebys in London in November 2008. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,662.48) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Pyne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Eton from the North Terrace of Windsor Castle, which sold at auction in December 2020 for GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,283.63).

Die Arbeit Peckwater Quad, Christ Church, Oxford von George Pyne wurde im November 2008 in der Auktion A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.375,00 (€ 1.662,48) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von George Pyne mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Eton from the North Terrace of Windsor Castle beobachtet, die im Dezember 2020 für GBP 5.625,00 (€ 6.283,63) versteigert wurde.
