Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2009 Christies in London held the auction Victorian and British Impressionist Pictures including Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work Visiting the shrine, possibly Lake Lugano by George Edwards Hering. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 1,915.15) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by George Edwards Hering have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Isola San Guilo, Lake Orta in March 2005 with an auction result of GBP 10,200.00 (€ 14,855.24).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2009 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian and British Impressionist Pictures including Drawings and Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Visiting the shrine, possibly Lake Lugano von George Edwards Hering zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.750,00 (€ 1.915,15) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Edwards Hering auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Isola San Guilo, Lake Orta im März 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.200,00 (€ 14.855,24).
