Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sketch Of Gerome by George de Forest Brush was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,500.00 (€ 5,183.85). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George de Forest Brush achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Council of the War Party in December 2005 with an auction result of USD 2,592,000.00 (€ 2,188,819.46).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sketch Of Gerome von George de Forest Brush im Oktober 2007 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.500,00 (€ 5.183,85) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George de Forest Brush erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Council of the War Party im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.592.000,00 (€ 2.188.819,46).
