Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Pile Driver by George Copeland Ault was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 62,500.00 (€ 55,197.39). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Copeland Ault achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Plough and the Moon in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 687,500.00 (€ 609,107.82).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Pile Driver von George Copeland Ault im November 2018 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 62.500,00 (€ 55.197,39) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Copeland Ault erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Plough and the Moon im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 687.500,00 (€ 609.107,82).
