Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Approaching Storm by George Cole was sold in the British and Victorian Pictures auction at Christies in London in March 2005. The price achieved of GBP 3,840.00 (€ 5,592.56) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Cole achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Carting the Ripe Harvest, Coombe in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 84,600.00 (€ 90,694.68).

Die Arbeit The Approaching Storm von George Cole wurde im März 2005 in der Auktion British and Victorian Pictures bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 3.840,00 (€ 5.592,56) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Cole erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Carting the Ripe Harvest, Coombe im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 84.600,00 (€ 90.694,68).
