Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2008 Christies in London held the auction Maritime, which included the work Congested waters in the Channel by George Chambers Jnr.. The price achieved of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,180.11) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Chambers Jnr. have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work H.M.S. Agamemnon Lying Off Greenwich, Possibly When Loading The Atlantic Telegraph Cable in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 11,352.50 (€ 16,330.51).
