In September 2008 Christies in London held the auction Travel, Science & Natural History, which included the work The Governor's Residence and Lighthouseoverlooking Cristobal Harbour, Colon, Panama, 1865 by George Chambers Jnr.. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,750.00 (€ 6,005.89), 36% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Chambers Jnr. - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work H.M.S. Agamemnon Lying Off Greenwich, Possibly When Loading The Atlantic Telegraph Cable, which sold at auction in November 2004 for GBP 11,352.50 (€ 16,330.51).

Im September 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Travel, Science & Natural History durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Governor's Residence and Lighthouseoverlooking Cristobal Harbour, Colon, Panama, 1865 von George Chambers Jnr. zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 6.005,89) und damit 36% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von George Chambers Jnr. mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit H.M.S.
