Auction result well in line with expectations
The work British Colon On The Aspenwall Sic, Panama, 1865 by George Chambers Jnr. was auctioned at Sothebys in Sydney in November 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 5,100.00 (€ 3,072.22) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by George Chambers Jnr. have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work H.M.S.
