Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2004 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Pictures, which included the work A busy day on the Medway by George Chambers Jnr.. The price achieved of GBP 657.25 (€ 986.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Chambers Jnr. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work H.M.S. Agamemnon Lying Off Greenwich, Possibly When Loading The Atlantic Telegraph Cable in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 11,352.50 (€ 16,330.51).
