The »bidding war« ended at GBP 693.10 (€ 1,009.76), 16% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by George Bryant Campion have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An exploration vessel anchored in Arctic waters with the crew rowing ashore; and The crew defending themselves from an attack by a polar bear whilst rowing ashore (both illustrated) in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,215.61).
