Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Storming the Castle by George Bernard O'Neill was sold in the British Art: Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in December 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,500.00 (€ 5,318.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Bernard O'Neill achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Market Day, the arrival of the Hippodrome in June 2004 with an auction result of GBP 47,800.00 (€ 71,140.72).
