Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2016 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Stolen Fruit Is The Sweetest by George Bernard O'Neill. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 18,125.00 (€ 22,884.60), 21% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Bernard O'Neill - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Market Day, the arrival of the Hippodrome, which sold at auction in June 2004 for GBP 47,800.00 (€ 71,140.72).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Stolen Fruit Is The Sweetest von George Bernard O'Neill zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 18.125,00 (€ 22.884,60) und damit 21% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von George Bernard O'Neill mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Market Day, the arrival of the Hippodrome beobachtet, die im Juni 2004 für GBP 47.800,00 (€ 71.140,72) versteigert wurde.
