Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A View of the Colosseum, Rome, with the Esquiline Hill beyond by Gaspar van Wittel was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2020. The price achieved of USD 50,000.00 (€ 44,519.63) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gaspar van Wittel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute in July 2003 with an auction result of GBP 1,517,250.00 (€ 1,983,148.05).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A View of the Colosseum, Rome, with the Esquiline Hill beyond von Gaspar van Wittel kam im Juni 2020 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute im Juli 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.517.250,00 (€ 1.983.148,05).
