Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Gaspar van Wittel could be acquired at Christies in Paris in July this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve auction, the work A view of the Tiber river looking North, with the Church of San Giovanni dei Fiorentini and Via Giulia, Rome changed hands for GBP 144,900.00 (€ 169,054.38) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gaspar van Wittel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute in July 2003 with an auction result of GBP 1,517,250.00 (€ 1,983,148.05).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Gaspar van Wittel konnte im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies in Paris für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve wechselte die Arbeit A view of the Tiber river looking North, with the Church of San Giovanni dei Fiorentini and Via Giulia, Rome für GBP 144.900,00 (€ 169.054,38) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 250.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gaspar van Wittel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute im Juli 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.517.250,00 (€ 1.983.148,05).
