It achieved a price of AUD 76,375.00 (€ 42,798.35), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 70%. Admittedly, works by Garry Shead have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Australian Queen Of Suburbia in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 432,000.00 (€ 258,325.93).

Die Arbeit Lawrence and Kangaroo von Garry Shead kam im August 2002 bei Christies in Melbourne zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von AUD 76.375,00 (€ 42.798,35) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 70%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Garry Shead auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Australian Queen Of Suburbia im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 432.000,00 (€ 258.325,93).
