Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Yellow Rose by Gandy Brodie was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 600.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,537.64). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gandy Brodie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Three works: Candelabra; Nest of Eggs on Branch; Portrait of an Elderly Woman, which sold at auction in April 2010 for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,288.98).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Yellow Rose von Gandy Brodie im Mai 2021 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 600,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 1.875,00 (€ 1.537,64) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Gandy Brodie mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Three works: Candelabra; Nest of Eggs on Branch; Portrait of an Elderly Woman beobachtet, die im April 2010 für USD 4.375,00 (€ 3.288,98) versteigert wurde.
