Hanging scroll, ink on paper, with two seals, with numerous additional inscriptions, including Lu Hui (1851-1920) with two seals, Sun Jun(Sun Guyun, 1777-1826) dated Daoguang bingxu (1826) with one seal, Song Yunjie(19th/20th century) dated Guangxu xinchou (1901) with two seals, Yang Zhuochen(19th century) dated Guangxu jihai (1899) with two seals, Yang Zhuochen (19th century) with two seals, and Fan Zhusong (1840-1917) dated jihai (1899), with one seal, with a collector's seal, the outer titleslip dated gengshen(likely 1860) and inscribed Budu Shuzhai.

This artwork by Gai Qi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in September this year. In the Fine Chinese Paintings auction, the work Portrait of Xi Gang (1746-1803) sold for USD 19,200.00 (€ 18,140.59) - well above the upper estimate of USD 10,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gai Qi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work literati elegant gathering in October 2021 with an auction result of HKD 1,197,000.00 (€ 133,149.67).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 92 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Gai Qi erzielte im September diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Paintings wurde die Arbeit Portrait of Xi Gang (1746-1803) für USD 19.200,00 (€ 18.140,59) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 10.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gai Qi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit literati elegant gathering im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.197.000,00 (€ 133.149,67).
