A top price for Gai Qi
This artwork by Gai Qi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2021. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings auction, the work literati elegant gathering sold for HKD 1,197,000.00 (€ 133,149.67) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 500,000.00. This high result makes literati elegant gathering the most expensive artwork by Gai Qi that we have observed at auctions so far.
