Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2004 Christies in London held the auction AT HOME - BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART, which included the work A girl on a sunlit wooded track; and Sunset over a wooded pool by George Cole. The price achieved of GBP 119.50 (€ 178.88) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25.00 – 200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Cole achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Carting the Ripe Harvest, Coombe in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 84,600.00 (€ 90,694.68).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion AT HOME - BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART durch, in der auch die Arbeit A girl on a sunlit wooded track; and Sunset over a wooded pool von George Cole zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 119,50 (€ 178,88) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 25,00 – 200,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Cole erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Carting the Ripe Harvest, Coombe im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 84.600,00 (€ 90.694,68).
