Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2007 Christies in London held the auction British & Continental Watercolours & Drawings, which included the work Ruins Of Thebes by Frederick Catherwood. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 625.00 (€ 849.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick Catherwood achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work General view of Kabah (Yucatán) in September 2005 with an auction result of GBP 38,400.00 (€ 56,354.82).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British & Continental Watercolours & Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ruins Of Thebes von Frederick Catherwood zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 625,00 (€ 849,27) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frederick Catherwood erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit General view of Kabah (Yucatán) im September 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 38.400,00 (€ 56.354,82).
