In September 2005 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel with The Polar Sale, which included the work Jerusalem by Frederick Catherwood. The result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,805.44) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frederick Catherwood have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work General view of Kabah (Yucatán) in September 2005 with an auction result of GBP 38,400.00 (€ 56,354.82).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im September 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion Exploration and Travel with The Polar Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Jerusalem von Frederick Catherwood zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 6.000,00 (€ 8.805,44) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frederick Catherwood auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit General view of Kabah (Yucatán) im September 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 38.400,00 (€ 56.354,82).
