Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction European Art: Paintings & Sculpture, which included the work A Nile Woman by Frederic Leighton. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 17,500.00 (€ 19,273.22), 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederic Leighton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Golden Hours in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 3,274,500.00 (€ 3,930,468.55).
