A top price for Frederic Leighton - as previously expected
In June 2016 Christies in London held the auction Defining British Art Evening Sale, which included the work Golden Hours by Frederic Leighton. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,274,500.00 (€ 3,930,468.55) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Golden Hours is the most expensive artwork by Frederic Leighton that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im Juni 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Defining British Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Golden Hours von Frederic Leighton zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000.000,00 – 5.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.274.500,00 (€ 3.930.468,55) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Golden Hours das teuerste Kunstwerk von Frederic Leighton, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
