Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dancing athlete with an olive branch by Frederic Leighton was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in June last year. The price achieved of USD 252,375.00 (€ 241,068.87) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederic Leighton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Golden Hours in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 3,274,500.00 (€ 3,930,468.55).
