Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2008 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian mt Jellore by Fred Williams. The price achieved of AUD 132,000.00 (€ 77,054.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 120,000.00 – 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fred Williams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Hillside I, 1965 in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 1,920,000.00 (€ 1,148,115.24).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2008 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian mt Jellore von Fred Williams zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 132.000,00 (€ 77.054,74) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 120.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Fred Williams erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Hillside I, 1965 im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 1.920.000,00 (€ 1.148.115,24).
