This price was achieved in the auction Important Australian Art at Bonhams in Sydney and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of AUD 7,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fred Williams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Hillside I, 1965 in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 1,920,000.00 (€ 1,148,115.24).
