Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Crooked Tree, You Yangs, 1978 by Fred Williams was sold in the Important Australian Art auction at Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne in August 2021. The price achieved of AUD 516,600.00 (€ 437,796.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 420,000.00 – 550,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Fred Williams - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian Hillside I, 1965, which sold at auction in August 2007 for AUD 1,920,000.00 (€ 1,148,115.24).
