A top price for Fred Williams - as previously expected
The work Australian Hillside I, 1965 by Fred Williams was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2007. The price achieved of AUD 1,920,000.00 (€ 1,148,115.24) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 1,800,000.00 – 2,200,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Australian Hillside I, 1965 is the most expensive artwork by Fred Williams that we have observed at auctions so far.
