In August 2021 Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Two Buskers and The Boy Friend, 1955-56 by Fred Williams. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 6,765.00 (€ 5,733.05), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fred Williams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Hillside I, 1965 in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 1,920,000.00 (€ 1,148,115.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im August 2021 führte Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two Buskers and The Boy Friend, 1955-56 von Fred Williams zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 6.765,00 (€ 5.733,05) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Fred Williams erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Hillside I, 1965 im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 1.920.000,00 (€ 1.148.115,24).
