In November 2008 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian Landscape by Fred Williams. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 55,200.00 (€ 28,465.35), 58% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fred Williams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Hillside I, 1965 in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 1,920,000.00 (€ 1,148,115.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im November 2008 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian Landscape von Fred Williams zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 55.200,00 (€ 28.465,35) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Fred Williams erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Hillside I, 1965 im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 1.920.000,00 (€ 1.148.115,24).
