Upper estimate price exceeded by 29 %.
In September 2000 Christies in London held the auction Exploration & Travel with Visions of India, which included the work The British, Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Expedition (BANZARE), 1929-31: Four whole plate glass negatives: (i) Hurley photographing from the bowsprit of the Discovery (ii) The Discovery from the bowsprit (iii) Hurley with his camera on the Di by Frank Hurley. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,813.74), 29% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frank Hurley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Photographs of Scenes and Incidents in connection with the happenings to the Weddell Sea Party 1914, 1915, 1916. in September 2006 with an auction result of GBP 120,000.00 (€ 177,025.30).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 29 % übertroffen
Im September 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion Exploration & Travel with Visions of India durch, in der auch die Arbeit The British, Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Expedition (BANZARE), 1929-31: Four whole plate glass negatives: (i) Hurley photographing from the bowsprit of the Discovery (ii) The Discovery from the bowsprit (iii) Hurley with his camera on the Di von Frank Hurley zur Versteigerung kam.
