Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Hurley cinematographing the Endurance by Frank Hurley was sold in the The Polar Sale including The Neil Silverman Collection auction at Christies in London in September 2002. The price achieved of GBP 1,792.50 (€ 2,848.69) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frank Hurley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Photographs of Scenes and Incidents in connection with the happenings to the Weddell Sea Party 1914, 1915, 1916. in September 2006 with an auction result of GBP 120,000.00 (€ 177,025.30).
