Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Henry Richard Vassall-Fox, 3rd Baron Holland (1773-1840), half-length, seated in a blue coat and yellow waistcoat by François-Xavier Fabre was sold in the Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale auction at Christies in London in July 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 38,617.03) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by François-Xavier Fabre have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Edgar Clarke, Full-Length, In A Forest in June 2007 with an auction result of USD 336,000.00 (€ 248,520.71).
