Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Probably The Chevalier De Vernègues by François-Xavier Fabre for USD 37,500.00 (€ 34,619.65). This price was achieved in the auction Master Paintings & 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by François-Xavier Fabre have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Edgar Clarke, Full-Length, In A Forest in June 2007 with an auction result of USD 336,000.00 (€ 248,520.71).
