In June 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Portrait Of Don Luigi Grimaldi Della Pietra, Prince Of Santa Cruce, Marquis Of Pietro Vajrana Of Monaco And Gênes, Count Of San Felice, Leaning On The Tomb Of His Fiancée Fanny, Marquise Of Grimaldi; Posthumous Portrait Of The Marquise Fanny Grimaldi, Née by François-Xavier Fabre. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 180,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 185,000.00 (€ 135,135.14) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by François-Xavier Fabre have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in June 2007 the work Portrait Of Edgar Clarke, Full-Length, In A Forest was auctioned for USD 336,000.00 (€ 248,520.71).
