Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A gentleman, in black coat and sprigged black waistcoat, pleated white shirt and tied cravat; sky background by François Meuret was sold in the Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in November 2007. It changed hands for a price of GBP 875.00 (€ 1,225.23) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by François Meuret achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Robert Arthur De Acres, Marquis De L'Aigle (1843-1931) in May 2020 with an auction result of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,182.56).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 875,00 (€ 1.225,23) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 700,00 – 900,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von François Meuret erzielen.
