Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July 2013 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work Villa Adriana, Tivoli, Italy by Francis Towne. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,855.89). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Towne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lake Of Albano, Morning Sun Rising Over Rocca Del Papa in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 289,250.00 (€ 347,790.53).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli 2013 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Villa Adriana, Tivoli, Italy von Francis Towne zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.855,89) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Towne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lake Of Albano, Morning Sun Rising Over Rocca Del Papa im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 289.250,00 (€ 347.790,53).
