Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2016 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Drawings, which included the work A study of a tree blown down in Peamore Park, near Exeter by Francis Towne. The price achieved of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,882.16) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Towne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lake Of Albano, Morning Sun Rising Over Rocca Del Papa in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 289,250.00 (€ 347,790.53).
