In October 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Under An Umbrella, Inn Of William The Conqueror by Francis Hopkinson Smith. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,358.27), 63% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Francis Hopkinson Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Scene in Venice in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 45,000.00 (€ 33,449.79).

Im Oktober 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Under An Umbrella, Inn Of William The Conqueror von Francis Hopkinson Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 7.358,27) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francis Hopkinson Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Scene in Venice im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 45.000,00 (€ 33.449,79).
