Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Garden at the Inn of William the Conqueror by Francis Hopkinson Smith was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2016. The price achieved of USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,998.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francis Hopkinson Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Scene in Venice, which sold at auction in May 2007 for USD 45,000.00 (€ 33,449.79).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 13.750,00 (€ 12.998,68) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Francis Hopkinson Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Scene in Venice beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für USD 45.000,00 (€ 33.449,79) versteigert wurde.
