Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Thatched Cottage, Normandy by Francis Hopkinson Smith. The price achieved of USD 3,750.00 (€ 3,396.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Francis Hopkinson Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Scene in Venice in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 45,000.00 (€ 33,449.79).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Thatched Cottage, Normandy von Francis Hopkinson Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 3.750,00 (€ 3.396,12) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francis Hopkinson Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Scene in Venice im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 45.000,00 (€ 33.449,79).
