Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Francis Hopkinson Smith could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in July 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the From Coast to Coast: Property from a Private Florida Collection auction, the work River View changed hands for USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,592.49) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Hopkinson Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Scene in Venice in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 45,000.00 (€ 33,449.79).
