Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Francis Hayman could be acquired at Sothebys in London in July 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Masters Day Sale auction, the work Portrait Of Jane Bedford (1712–59) With Her Two Sons, Charles And Richard Earle changed hands for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 20,586.25) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Francis Hayman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Joseph Henry of Straffan, Co. Kildare, full-length, seated at a table writing a letter, in a blue coat, yellow waistcoat and red breeches, beside a bookcase in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 69,750.00 (€ 116,937.46).
