Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sketch of the Duke of Wellington at the Royal Academy, 1843 by Francis Grant was sold in the Christie's Interiors auction at Christies in London in May 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 437.50 (€ 537.70) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Grant achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Daisy Grant, The Artist'S Daughter, Full Length, Wearing A Black Dress, Red Petticoat, Black Shawl, Hat And Boots, And Grey Gloves In A Winter Landscape in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 174,250.00 (€ 289,463.92).
