Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sinai and Palestine by Francis Frith was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2002, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,434.00 (€ 2,245.66). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Frith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Egypt, Palestine & Nubia in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 31,070.00 (€ 46,616.44).
